We stopped for croissants to eat for breakfast on our way to Central Park this morning, and then spent over two hours wandering through the park as A. enjoyed all the dogs in the park, and we both enjoyed the gorgeous scenery. We don't have this kind of green scenery in Arizona. I knew Central Park was beautiful, but couldn't imagine it. And, we didn't even have time to see the zoo today. This was our morning walk.

I left A. at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and I headed across town, walking on Fifth Avenue.

Here's an interesting piece outside of one of the buildings on Fifth Avenue. Fifth Avenue has a number of consulates for the U.N., which means lots of buildings with cameras, and black cars sitting in front of the buildings.
It also has Trump Tower, and all of those famous stores, including F.A.O. Schwarz. I couldn't resist running in, but it had started to rain AGAIN, and the dressed up guards had gone inside, so no pictures of them.
After walking from 79th Street to 34th, I finally had to give up and get a cab or I wasn't going to make it to Macmillan Publishing on time. Talia Sherer, the Library Marketing Director, had invited me to stop in. She's one who invited me to be on the panel at BEA, the real reason I'm here, not just to enjoy playing tourist. Talia was so great, taking me around, and introducing me to Hector, Sarah, Brigid, Alli, and her boss, Peter. Naturally we talked books! Talia didn't tell me Macmillan is on the top floor of the historic Flatiron Building. Peter's office is so interesting. It's the top office at the peak of the building, so it comes to a peak, with windows on both sides.
Walked back to the hotel afterward, in the rain, so had a little downtime before meeting A. for dinner at Sardi's. My dinner was very good, since I had curried chicken. Service was terrific. But, as to the famous caricatures on the wall, forget it. They were nothing special.
We ended the evening at The Stephen Sondheim Theater, where we saw Anything Goes with Sutton Foster and Joel Grey. She was a wonderful dancer and singer. And, Joel Grey! I got to see Joel Grey on Broadway in a musical by Cole Porter. The dancing numbers were just out of the world. Wonderful way to end the day.
